The arena brand was created in 1973 by the son of a sports visionary, Horst Dasler. During the 1972 Munich Summer Games, Dassler was in the swimming pool when Mark Spitz won his historic 7 gold medals. In 1973 the Arena brand introduced first line of swimwear. The key to the brand's success was signing individual contracts with athletes for the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal.
