Please burn the incense, holding it to the right , visualize or think about higher beings such as Gods, Goddesses, Buddhas, Bodhisattvas or any other deity to whom you want to offer it with a sincere and pure heart (and at the same time ask for their blessings and protection). If you have other wishes or prayers, you can say that as well. Then put it in the censer (Tibetan one, which has metal plates, is especially recommended). If you don't have one, place it on a metal or ceramic plate. Make sure the burning part is facing west.
