“Palo Santo”, or “Holy Tree” in Spanish, is a species of tree belonging to the incense group (like Olibanum and Myrrh). It occurs naturally in South and Central America under the Latin name Bursera graveolens.

The twigs offered at the auction come from Peru, where the harvesting of the Holy Tree is regulated by the Peruvian government, and legally operating companies obtain appropriate certificates (which we have for inspection). Cutting down trees is prohibited in Peru. Only naturally dead branches and limbs may be collected, after a sufficiently long time after their natural fall. When buying at auction, you can be sure that the tree comes from a legal source and was obtained in full compliance with nature. Only wood obtained in this way guarantees the preservation of its extraordinary properties, for which it is so widely appreciated all over the world.

In addition to the obvious aromatic qualities, the Holy Tree is believed to have numerous cleansing and healing properties.
