Phlegamina, raspberry flavor, 4 mg/5 ml, 200 ml

Description

Flegamine is a syrup used in the case of a wet (productive) cough. Facilitates expectoration of retained mucus.

Composition

The active substance is bromhexine hydrochloride (Bromhexini hydrochloridum).

5 ml of syrup contains 4 mg of bromhexine hydrochloride.

Excipients: citric acid monohydrate, glucose monohydrate, glycerol, propyl parahydroxybenzoate, cochineal, raspberry flavor, ethanol 96%, purified water.

Dosage

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you have any doubts, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

The usual dose is:

Children aged 7 to 12 years: 5 ml (1 measuring spoon of syrup) 3 times a day.

Adults and children over 12 years of age: 10 ml (2 measuring spoons of syrup) 3 times a day.

Do not take the medicine immediately before bed.

Action

The active substance of Flegamina has a mucolytic effect. It makes bronchial secretions less viscous. Phlegamin facilitates expectoration of secretions and improves the function of the ciliated epithelium.

Indications

Phlegamin with raspberry flavor is indicated for acute and chronic respiratory diseases with impaired expectoration and mucus removal.

Contraindications

When should you not use Flegamina with raspberry flavor?

if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to bromhexine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Uncommon side effects (may affect up to 1 in 100 people):

upper abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea.

Rare side effects (less than 1 in 1,000 people):

hypersensitivity, rash.

Frequency not known (frequency cannot be estimated from the available data):

anaphylactic reactions, anaphylactic shock,

headache, dizziness, drowsiness,

bronchospasm,

angioedema,

hives, itching,

excessive sweating,

increased activity of liver enzymes,

lowering blood pressure.

Warnings and precautions

Use with caution in patients with peptic ulcer disease.

Use with caution in patients with hepatic and renal disorders.

The medicine contains alcohol.

The medicine contains propyl parahydroxybenzoate.

The medicine contains sorbitol.

Keep out of the sight and reach of children.

Store in the original package in order to protect from light.

Shelf life after first opening the bottle: 28 days.

Using other medicines

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.

Flegamina with raspberry flavor should not be used with:

antitussives, e.g. containing codeine and its derivatives, as they may weaken the cough reflex and cause secretions to remain in the respiratory tract.

Flegamina with raspberry flavor may interact with:

atropine and other anticholinergic drugs, as they cause dry mucous membranes.

salicylates and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, as the drug may intensify the irritating effect on the gastrointestinal mucosa.

antibiotics, such as: oxytetracycline, erythromycin, ampicillin, doxycycline, cefuroxime, amoxicillin, because simultaneous use of the drug with these antibiotics increases their concentration in the lung parenchyma.

Take the medicine with food and drink

The medicine should be taken after a meal. You should drink more fluids while taking this medicine.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

The active substance of Flegamina passes into breast milk.

Use of the drug in children and adolescents

Do not use in children under 7 years of age due to the alcohol content.

Driving and using machines

Be careful as this medicine may cause headache, dizziness or drowsiness. The medicine contains ethanol, so it may impair the ability to drive or operate machinery.
