Otinum 0.2 g/g, ear drops, 10 g

Otinum is a drug in the form of ear drops whose active substance is choline salicylate (Cholini salicylas). The drug has anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, and the glycerin contained in the drug softens the earwax, making it easier to remove. When administered directly into the ear, Otinum ear drops work only locally, fighting pain and inflammation (they do not have a systemic effect).

Indications

Otinum ear drops 0.2 g/g (10 g) is used topically in:

• acute inflammation of the middle ear, eardrum or external auditory canal,
• softening hardened earwax before removing it from the ear.

Action

The active substance of Otinum in the form of ear drops is a derivative of salicylic acid - choline salicylate. Choline salicylate used topically has analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties. Thanks to this, it reduces pain and inflammation caused by inflammation of the external auditory canal. The glycerol contained in the drug softens the ear wax, making it easier to remove.

After topical administration to the ear, the drug has no systemic effect.

Composition

1 g of Otinum ear drops contains:

• active substance: choline salicylate 0.2 g,
• excipients: glycerol, ethanol 96%, chlorobutanol hemihydrate, purified water.

Contraindications

When not to use the drug Otinum:

• if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to the active substance (choline salicylate), other salicylates (e.g. acetylsalicylic acid/aspirin) or any of the other ingredients of this medicine ;
• if you have bleeding or discharge from the ear;
• if you have severe ear pain along with decreased hearing;
• if you have previously been diagnosed with membrane damage eardrum (rupture or disruption).
