DESCRIPTION:

Oftagel, eye gel, is a clear or slightly opalescent solution. Contains carbomer as an active substance. Important properties of eye drops intended to alleviate the symptoms of "dry eye" syndrome are: long contact time with the cornea and good lubricating properties. Carbomer, which is a cross-linked polymer with a high molecular weight, increases the viscosity of eye drops and forms a protective layer on the cornea.

INDICATIONS:

It is used in the treatment of keratoconjunctivitis sicca (Keratoconjunctivitis sicca) and the symptomatic treatment of other forms of "dry eye" syndrome, i.e. in situations when the tear glands secrete less or no secretion of their own and the drying of the cornea causes undesirable symptoms on the eye surface.

DOSE:

Adults ( including the elderly):

The recommended dose of Oftagel is 1 drop into the conjunctival sac 1 to 4 times a day depending on the severity of the symptoms.

STORAGE HOW TO:

Keep the medicine out of the sight and reach of children. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the bottle label. The expiry date means the last day of the given month. After first opening the bottle, the medicine is stable for 28 days. After this time, the medicine should be disposed of in accordance with local regulations. Store at temperatures below 25ºC, protect from light. Between instillations, the bottle should be kept upside down in the box to facilitate administration of the gel.

Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines you no longer use. Doing so will help protect the environment.

COMPOSITION:

The active substance of the drug is carbomer. 1 g of gel contains 2.5 mg of carbomer.

The other ingredients are benzalkonium chloride, sorbitol, lysine monohydrate, sodium acetate trihydrate, polyvinyl alcohol and water for injections.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS:

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.

Immediately after administration of the drug, transient visual disturbances, burning or symptoms of local irritation may occur.
