Polcrom, 20 mg/ml, eye drops, antiallergic drug, 2 x 5 ml

Polcrom is an over-the-counter drug with anti-allergic effect for use in the case of allergic conjunctivitis.

The drug has anti-allergic properties and inhibits the release of mediators of allergic reactions, including: histamine. Cromoglycan stabilizes the cell membrane of mast cells, thereby inhibiting the secretion of inflammatory mediators. Cromoglycan inhibits early and late allergic reactions. Polcrom has a pH identical to that of tear fluid.

Indications:

Allergic conjunctivitis and keratitis, including spring and seasonal allergies.

Composition:

The active substance is:sodium cromoglycate (Natrii cromoglicas).

1 ml of solution (drops) contains 20 mg of sodium cromoglycate. Excipients: sorbitol; disodium phosphate dodecahydrate; sodium dihydrogen phosphate monohydrate; disodium edetate; sodium chloride; polysorbate 80; Benzalkonium chloride solution; purified water.

Dosage:

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.

Medicine for use in the conjunctival sac. The drug should be used during the asymptomatic period (before contact with the allergen) and used throughout the season. When applying the drops, do not touch the eye, eyelid or surrounding area with the dropper, as this may lead to infection of the drops.

• Into the conjunctival sac, 1-2 drops 4 times a day, at regular intervals.

Before using Polcrom drops, remember:

• wash your hands before instilling,
• apply the drops into the conjunctival sac,
• after instilling, do not blink or open your eyes for about 2 minutes, the medicine will dissipate absorbed.

Contraindications:

Do not use if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to sodium cromoglycate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Adverse effects:

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Frequency unknown:

• temporary burning sensation,
• temporary stinging of the conjunctiva,
• local irritation,
• cloudy spots on the cornea (in case of damaged cornea).

Warnings and precautions:

• The medicine contains benzalkonium chloride, may cause eye irritation. Benzalkonium chloride should not be used with soft contact lenses. Before using the drops, remove your lenses and wait 15 minutes before putting them back on. Non-nalkonium chloride changes the color of contact lenses.
• Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
• Store at a temperature below 25 degrees C.
• Keep the bottle tightly closed in the outer packaging.
• After first opening the bottle, the drops should not be used for longer than 4 weeks.

Driving and using machines:

Cromoglycate does not affect the ability to drive. However, the use of eye drops may result in temporary visual disturbances (transient blurred vision).
