DESCRIPTION

Vigalex Max contains the active substance vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol), important in the bone formation process.

Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) is produced by the body in the skin under the influence of sunlight (UV radiation), it can also be supplied to the body with food.

Vitamin D deficiency causes bone calcification disorders (rickets) or loss of calcium from bones (osteomalacia).

COMPOSITION

One tablet contains 40 mg of cholecalciferol powder , which corresponds to 0.1 mg of cholecalciferol (vitamin D3).

The other ingredients are: microcrystalline cellulose (type 102), calcium hydrogen phosphate dihydrate, pregelatinized corn starch, crospovidone (type A), sucrose, magnesium stearate , sodium ascorbate, triglycerides of medium-chain saturated fatty acids, colloidal anhydrous silica, all-rac-α-Tocopherol.

INDICATIONS

Prevention of vitamin D deficiency and conditions resulting from vitamin deficiency D (e.g. osteomalacia, osteoporosis) in adults with obesity (body mass index [BMI] ≥ 30 kg/m2)

DOSAGE

Prophylaxis of vitamin D deficiency and conditions resulting from vitamin D deficiency in obese adults

Usually 4000 IU (1 tablet) per day, in the months from October to April or throughout the year if effective skin synthesis of vitamin D is not ensured in the summer months.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

• Hypersensitivity to the active substance (cholecalciferol) or to any of the excipients.
• Hypercalcemia and/or hypercalciuria.
• Kidney stones and/or severe renal failure.
• Pseudohypoparathyroidism (the need for vitamin D may be reduced due to periods of normal sensitivity to this vitamin, leading to overdose). In this case, easier-to-control vitamin D derivatives are available.
• Children and adolescents under the age of 18.
