Gaviscon mint flavor TAB is a medicinal product intended for the treatment of symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease such as belching, heartburn and indigestion (related to reflux), for example after meals or during pregnancy or in patients with symptoms related to reflux esophagitis.

Composition:

The active substances are: sodium alginate, sodium bicarbonate and calcium carbonate.

1 tablet contains: 250 mg of sodium alginate, 133.5 mg of sodium bicarbonate and 80 mg of calcium carbonate.

Excipients: mannitol (E421), macrogol 20,000, copovidone, aspartame (E951), peppermint flavor , magnesium stearate and acesulfame potassium

The tablets do not contain sugar or gluten.

Indications:

Gaviscon mint flavor TAB is used for the treatment of symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux such as belching, heartburn and indigestion (related to reflux), for example after meals or during pregnancy, and in patients with symptoms related to reflux esophagitis.

Properties:

Gaviscon mint-flavored TAB creates a protective layer that stays on the surface of the stomach contents. This layer prevents the reflux of acidic gastric contents from the stomach, which reduces pain and discomfort in the throat and mouth. Heartburn may occur after meals (mainly fatty and spicy meals) or during pregnancy or in patients with symptoms of inflammation of the esophageal wall (e.g. difficulty and/or difficult swallowing, pain in the mouth, vomiting).

Dosage:

Always use this medicine as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

• Take the medicine orally.
• Chew the tablet thoroughly before swallowing.

Application in adults, including elderly patients and in children aged 12 years and over: if symptoms occur, 2 to 4 tablets after meals and at bedtime, up to four times a day.

Taking other medicines:

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines, including those taken without a prescription.

Do not use this medicine within two hours of taking other medicines as it may affect the effectiveness of some medicines.

Contraindications:

When not to take Gaviscon mint flavor TAB:

• if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to any of the ingredients of the drug.

Side effects:

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Very rare side effects (may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people):

• allergic reactions to ingredients of the medicine (such as skin rashes, itching, difficulty breathing, dizziness, swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat).

Warnings:

• The medicine contains sodium (5.3 mmol per dose of two tablets) and calcium (1.6 mmol per dose of two tablets ).

Storage:

• Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
• Do not store at temperatures above 30°C.
