Recommended doses of Iberogast®

Iberogast® comes in the form of herbal drops. Unless your doctor advises otherwise, Iberogast® should be taken 3 times a day before or during meals, with a small amount of water.

There are no restrictions on the duration of use of Iberogast®45. The duration of administration depends on the type, intensity and course of the disorder. If your symptoms do not improve within 7 days or you are not getting the expected results, consult your doctor.

What is Iberogast® and what is it used for?

Iberogast® is a herbal medicine for use in the treatment of functional (gastrointestinal) disorders related to the motility (transit) of the gastrointestinal tract, such as functional dyspepsia (indigestion) or irritable bowel syndrome. These disorders are mainly manifested by abdominal and intestinal cramps, abdominal pain, feeling of fullness, flatulence, nausea and heartburn.

Iberogast® relieves the feeling of fullness, flatulence, and weakens stomach and intestinal spasms. It has anti-inflammatory, carminative, antioxidant and antibacterial properties.

When not to use Iberogast®

If you are allergic to any of the ingredients of this medicine. It is not recommended to be administered to children under 6 years of age. In children under 6 years of age, any abdominal pain should be consulted with a doctor.

If you have or have had liver disease in the past, or if you are taking medicines that, according to the package leaflet, may cause side effects in the form of liver damage. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Warnings and precautions

If you experience yellowing of your skin or eyes, dark urine, discoloration of stools, upper abdominal pain, stop taking Iberogast® immediately and consult your doctor. These may be signs of liver damage. Patients with known liver disease should consult a doctor before taking Iberogast®.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding , thinks she may be pregnant or is planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

As a precautionary measure, it is recommended to avoid the use of Iberogast® during pregnancy.

How to use Iberogast®

The recommended dose of Iberogast® is:

adults and adolescents over 12 years of age: 20 drops 3 times a day,

children aged 6 to 12 years: 15 drops 3 times a day,

children under 6 years of age: use is not recommended.

Duration of use:

If symptoms do not subside after 7 days of using the medicine, consult a doctor about the cause.

Shake before use

The presence of sediment or cloudiness does not affect the effectiveness of Iberogast®.

Possible side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them . In very rare cases (less than 1 in 10,000), hypersensitivity reactions may occur, such as skin reactions, itching, shortness of breath.

Frequency unknown: cases of liver damage have occurred (increased liver function tests, jaundice drug reactions, hepatitis and liver failure); If you notice symptoms such as yellowing of your skin or eyes, dark urine and discolored stools, stop taking Iberogast® immediately and see your doctor.
