Description
Ortanol Max is a medicinal product that reduces the amount of hydrochloric acid produced in the stomach for short-term use in case of heartburn, i.e. gastroesophageal reflux.
Composition
The active substance of the drug is omeprazole (Omeprazole).
1 gastro-resistant capsule contains 20 mg of omeprazole.
Excipients:
granules: sucrose, grains, hypromellose, povidone K25, sodium lauryl sulfate, heavy magnesium oxide, talc, methacrylic acid and ethyl acrylate copolymer 1:1, dispersion 30%, triethyl citrate, magnesium stearate; capsule: gelatin, titanium dioxide (E171)
Indications
Symptomatic treatment of gastroesophageal reflux (heartburn, acid regurgitation).
Action
Ortanol Max is a medicinal product containing omeprazole, which belongs to the proton pump inhibitors. Omeprazole reduces the amount of hydrochloric acid secreted in the stomach by affecting the parietal cells of the stomach, which are responsible for the production of hydrochloric acid. The inhibition of parietal cells is reversible.
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.
- The medicine is for oral use.
- The medicine can be taken with a meal or on an empty stomach.
- To relieve the symptoms, the medicine should be taken for 2 -3 consecutive days.
- The medicine is recommended to be used in the morning.
- The capsules should be swallowed whole - do not chew or crush.
- In case of significant swallowing problems medicine - the capsule can be opened, the pellets should not be chewed.
Adults: usually take 1 capsule (20 mg) once a day for 14 days.
Contraindications
When not to use Ortanol Max:
- in case of hypersensitivity to the active substance - omeprazole or any of the other ingredients of this drug drug,
- if you are allergic to other drugs from the proton pump inhibitor group (pantoprazole, lansoprazole, rabeprazole, esomeprazole),
- if you are taking nelfinavir.
Side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Interactions
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.
Ortanol Maxmay interact with:
- clopidogrel,
- ketoconazole, itraconazole,
- digoxin,
- diazepam,
- phenytoin,
- anticoagulants (warfarin),
- St. John's wort,
- clarithromycin,
- methotrexate.
