Omeprazole Genoptim SPH

14 capsules

Composition of 1 capsule:

  • omeprazole 20 mg

Properties:

Omeprazole Genoptim contains an active substance called omeprazole. It belongs to a group of medicines called 'proton pump inhibitors', which work by reducing the amount of acid produced in the stomach.

Omeprazole Genoptim is used to treat the following diseases and disorders in adults:

  • Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). It involves acid from the stomach leaking into the esophagus, causing pain, inflammation and heartburn.
  • Treatment of reflux esophagitis and long-term maintenance treatment after reflux esophagitis has healed.
  • Ulcers of the upper small intestine (duodenal ulcers) or stomach (gastric ulcers).
  • Preventing the recurrence of duodenal or stomach ulcers.
  • Ulcers infected with bacteria called "Helicobacter pylori". In this situation, your doctor may also prescribe antibiotics to treat the infection and allow the ulcers to heal.
  • Ulcers caused by drugs called NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). Omeprazole Genoptim can also be used to prevent the development of ulcers when taking NSAIDs.
  • Too much acid in the stomach resulting from the presence of a hyperplastic lesion in the pancreas (Zollinger-Ellison syndrome).

Warning:

Do not use Omeprazole Genoptim: if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to omeprazole or any of the other ingredients of Omeprazole Genoptim; if you are allergic to medicines containing other proton pump inhibitors (e.g. pantoprazole, lansoprazole, rabeprazole, esomeprazole); if you are taking a medicine containing nelfinavir (used to treat HIV infection).

If you have any questions before taking Omeprazole Genoptim, talk to your doctor.
