Rennie Fruit - neutralizes excess hydrochloric acid in the stomach.

Rennie Fruit contains two substances that locally neutralize excess hydrochloric acid in the stomach (calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate).

Composition:

The active substances of the drug are: calcium carbonate and heavy magnesium carbonate.

The other ingredients (excipients) are: sucrose, gelatinized corn starch, starch potato, talc, magnesium stearate, light liquid paraffin, sodium saccharin, orange flavor (orange oil, maltodextrin, water).

Indications:

Rennie Fruit is used for the symptomatic treatment of ailments related to hyperacidity of gastric juice, such as:

  • heartburn,
  • dyspepsia,
  • flatulence,
  • nausea,
  • feeling of fullness or heaviness in the upper abdomen,
  • belching.

Notes:

Rennie Fruit should not be used in children under 12 years of age.

Dosage:

Always take this medicine exactly as this is described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Adults and children over 12 years of age: 1 to 2 tablets at a time, one hour after a meal and at bedtime. Do not take more than 11 tablets a day.

Take orally, tablets can be sucked or chewed.

If you experience heartburn or pain associated with hyperacidity, you can take an additional one or two tablets between your usual dosing times.

Use with other medicines:

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or have recently taken any other medicines. that you plan to use.

Rennie Fruit may affect the speed and extent of absorption of other medicines. Therefore, all medicines, especially those listed below, should be taken 1 or 2 hours before or after taking Rennie Fruit: - tetracycline antibiotics and other antibacterial medicines - quinolones, - cardiac glycosides such as digoxin, - levothyroxine (used, in hypothyroidism), - eltrombopag (used to treat thrombocytopenia), - phosphates, - fluorides, - iron preparations, - thiazide diuretics. Due to the increased risk of hypercalcemia when thiazide diuretics are used concomitantly, serum calcium levels should be monitored regularly.

Use with food:

The drug should be taken after a meal. . The medicine should not be taken with large amounts of milk or dairy products.

Contraindications:

When not to take Rennie Fruit:

  • if you are allergic to the active substances or any of the other ingredients of the medicine,
  • if you have increased calcium levels in your blood (hypercalcaemia),
  • if you have calcium kidney stones,
  • if you have severe kidney failure
  • if you have low levels of inorganic phosphates in your blood (hypophosphatemia).

Side effects:

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Rennie Fruit may cause the following side effects:

  • hypersensitivity reactions (very rarely reported); clinical symptoms may include: rash, hives, angioedema and anaphylactic shock,
  • nausea, vomiting, stomach discomfort and diarrhea,
  • muscle weakness.

Long-term use of high doses, especially in patients with impaired renal function, may cause hypermagnesemia (increase in the level of magnesium in the blood) or hypercalcemia (increase in the level of calcium in the blood) and alkalosis (increase in the level of alkali in the blood), which may cause symptoms of digestive system and muscle weakness (see above).

Warnings:

One tablet contains 475 mg of sucrose. This should be taken into account in patients with diabetes. If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicinal product. The medicine contains less than 1 mmol (23 mg) sodium per tablet, i.e. the medicine is considered 'sodium-free'.

Take during pregnancy:

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

Rennie Fruit can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The recommended doses should then be strictly observed and used as directed. The medicine should not be taken for a long period of time.

Storage:

The medicine should be kept out of the sight and reach of children. Store at temperatures below 25°C.
