Rennie Antacidum is a medicinal product for use, among others, in heartburn, indigestion, belching, i.e. symptoms related to hyperacidity of gastric juice. The drug neutralizes excess hydrochloric acid in the stomach.

Composition:

The active substances are: calcium carbonate, magnesium carbonate heavy.

1 tablet contains 680 mg of calcium carbonate and 80 mg of heavy magnesium carbonate.

Excipients: sucrose, gelatinized corn starch, potato starch, magnesium stearate, talc, light liquid paraffin , mint flavor (mint oil, maltodextrin, acacia gum, silicon dioxide), lemon flavor (lemon oil, maltodextrin, water).

Indications:

Symptomatic treatment of ailments related to hyperacidity of gastric juice, such as:

• heartburn,
• dyspepsia,
• flatulence,
• nausea ,
• belching,
• feeling of fullness or heaviness in the upper abdomen.

Notes:

Do not use in people under 12 years of age.

Properties:

Rennie Antacidum contains active substances (calcium carbonate, magnesium carbonate) responsible for neutralizing excess hydrochloric acid in the stomach (resulting in an increase in pH). The medicine works locally and is not absorbed into the bloodstream.

Dosage:

Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed recommendations of a doctor or pharmacist.

• Medicine for oral use.
• Tablets can be chewed or sucked.
• In case of pain associated with hyperacidity or heartburn , you can take an additional 1-2 tablets between the usual dosing times.
• The medicine should not be used for a long time.
• Do not use the medicine for longer than 7 days.

Adolescents over 12 years of age and adults: 1-2 tablets, one hour after meals and before bedtime. Do not use more than 11 tablets a day.

Rennie Antacidum may interact with:

• tetracyclines and antibacterial drugs from the quinolone group,
• cardiac glycosides (e.g. digoxin),
• phosphates, fluorides, iron preparations,
• thiazide diuretics.

Use with food:

The medicine should be taken after a meal.

Do not use Rennie with large amounts of milk or dairy products.

Contraindications:

When not to use Rennie Antacidum:

• if you are allergic to the active substances or any of the other ingredients of this medicine,
• if you have an increased level of calcium in the blood (hypercalcemia),
• if you have been diagnosed with calcium kidney stones, severe kidney failure,
• if you have a decreased level of inorganic phosphates in the blood (hypophosphatemia).

Side effects:

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Frequency unknown:

• nausea, vomiting, diarrhea,
• stomach discomfort,
• muscle weakness,
• hypersensitivity reactions (rash, hives, angioedema).

Warnings:

• Long-term use may result in with hypermagnesemia, hypercalcemia, alkalosis.
• The drug should be used with caution in patients with: diagnosed renal failure, excessive calcium excretion in urine (hypercalcuria).
• Patients with diabetes should take attention to the content of sucrose - 1 tablet contains 475 mg of sucrose.

Take during pregnancy:

Rennie Antacidum can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
