Indications:

Treatment of symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux such as belching, heartburn and indigestion (related to reflux), for example after meals or during pregnancy , or in patients with symptoms related to reflux esophagitis.

Composition:

• Each tablet contains 250 mg of sodium alginate (Natrii alginas), 133.5 mg of sodium bicarbonate ( Natrii hydrogenocarbonas) and 80 mg of calcium carbonate (Calcii carbonas).
• Excipient: 3.75 mg of aspartame (E951) in one tablet.

Gaviscon mint flavor TAB creates a protective layer that stays on the surface of the gastric contents. This layer prevents the reflux of acidic gastric contents from the stomach, which reduces pain and discomfort in the throat and mouth. Heartburn may occur after meals (mainly fatty and spicy meals) or during pregnancy, or in patients with symptoms of inflammation of the esophageal wall (e.g. difficulty and/or difficult swallowing, pain in the mouth, vomiting).

Contraindications:

This medicinal product is contraindicated in patients with known or suspected hypersensitivity to the active substances or any of the excipients.

Adverse reactions:

• Respiratory, thoracic and mediastinal disorders

Very rare (< 1/10,000)

Respiratory disorders such as spasm bronchi

• Immune system disorders

Very rare (< 1/10,000)

Anaphylactic reactions and anaphylactoid

Hypersensitivity reactions such as hives

How to use:

• For oral administration, chew thoroughly before swallowing.
• Adults and children aged 12 years and over: two to four tablets after meals and at bedtime.
• Elderly: no dosage adjustment is necessary in this age group.

Precautions:

• The sodium content of a dose of four tablets is 246 mg (10.6 mmol). This should be taken into account when used in patients requiring significant dietary salt restriction, e.g. in some cases of congestive heart failure and renal failure.
• Each dose of four tablets contains 320 mg (3.2 mmol) calcium carbonate. Caution should be exercised when treating patients with hypercalcemia, nephrocalcinosis and recurrent nephrolithiasis with stones containing calcium.
• Due to the content of aspartame, this medicinal product should not be used in patients with phenylketonuria.
• There is a possibility of reduced effectiveness of treatment in patients with very low secretion of hydrochloric acid in the stomach.
• If symptoms do not subside after seven days of treatment, the patient's condition should be re-evaluated.
• It is not recommended to use medicinal product in children under 12 years of age, unless otherwise advised by a doctor.
