Product description:

Alugastrin is a drug for symptomatic use to neutralize excess hydrochloric acid contained in gastric acid. It does not cause excessive deacidification and a secondary increase in the secretion of hydrochloric acid. Relieves pain associated with hyperacidity of gastric juice. It also has a protective effect.

Composition:

  • active substance: dihydroxyaluminum sodium carbonate
  • excipients: mannitol, potato starch, carmellose sodium, magnesium stearate , substance improving taste and smell: mint, sodium saccharin.

Indications:

Alugatsrin is used symptomatically:

  • in case of hyperacidity gastric juice,
  • in damage to the gastric and duodenal mucosa caused by ulcerogenic agents (e.g. NSAIDs),
  • in gastric and duodenal ulcer disease.
< h2>Dosage:

Always take your medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

  • Adults and children over 6 years of age: 1-2 tablets should be crushed or chewed up to an hour after a meal and before sleep. Alternatively, take in case of pain.
  • In the event of an overdose of Alugastrin (in a higher dose than recommended), diarrhea, swelling of the feet and lower legs may occur.
  • Do not take a double dose in order to make up for the missed tablet.
  • If after 14 days in adults (or 7 days in children) there is no improvement or the patient feels worse, consult a doctor.

  • Neutralizing excess hydrochloric acid in gastric juice.
  • Protecting the mucous membrane of the esophagus, stomach and duodenum.
  • Alleviating pain. related to hyperacidity of gastric juice.

Contraindications:

  • Allergy to sodium dihydroxyaluminum carbonate or any of the ingredients of Alugastrin.
  • Severe kidney failure.

Storage:

  • Keep the medicine out of the sight and reach of children, at a temperature below 25°C.
  • Protect from moisture by storing the tablets in the original packaging.

Side effects:

Interactions:

Alugastrin reduces the absorption of gastrointestinal tract of some drugs administered orally, e.g.:

  • drugs that reduce gastric acid secretion, e.g. ranitidine - H2 receptor antagonists;
  • phenytoin (a drug with anticonvulsant and antiarrhythmic effects) ;
  • fluoroquinolones (drugs used to treat bacterial infections of the respiratory, urogenital, gastrointestinal tract, skin, soft tissues, bones and joints, e.g. ciprofloxacin);
  • cardiac glycosides, e.g. . digoxin;
  • ketoconazole (a medicine used to treat fungal infections of the skin and nails);

  • tetracyclines (groups of antibiotics used in bacterial infections of the respiratory, urogenital systems, Lyme disease, skin infections, e.g. doxycycline);

  • iron preparations;
  • reduces the effectiveness of sucralfate (a drug used in the treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers).

Warnings and precautions:

  • It is recommended to exercise special caution when using Alugastrin tablets in patients prone to constipation .
  • Long-term use of high doses of the drug may lead to hypophosphatemia (aluminum contained in the drug binds phosphates in the small intestine, creating insoluble compounds).

Pregnancy and feeding breastfeeding:

  • If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
